MPRI announces the Safeshot Beretta 92/M9 Barrel
(September 28, 2005)--
ALEXANDRIA, VA, — MPRI, an L-3 Communications company, announced today the addition of the SafeShot® Beretta 92/M9 barrel to its line of BEAMHIT® Laser Marksmanship Training Systems (LMTS).
The SafeShot Beretta 92/M9 barrel is a drop-in blank fire pistol barrel that duplicates live-fire handling and recoil without changing any other component parts, springs or magazine. The barrel, which is made of hardened stainless steel, is inserted or removed by simple field-stripping without the use of tools. The SafeShot Beretta 92/M9 barrel is completely holsterable and does not require tethers. Most important, trainees cannot chamber or discharge any live ammunition or conventional blank ammunition of the same caliber. The SafeShot Beretta 92/M9 is ideal for classroom, courtroom, tactical training, weapon retention drill, combat and target training, vehicle stop and hostage rescue scenarios.
“For the first time, firearms and tactical instructors have a drop-in pistol training device that combines repetitive, safe and realistic blank-fire operation with an internal and completely self-contained laser. The operation and accuracy are as realistic as live-fire, but without any of the attendant dangers,” says Ed Leiter, executive director of SafeShot at MPRI.
The BEAMHIT LMTS family of small arms marksmanship training and shooting sports simulation products are proven, effective, affordable, safe and reliable training tools that help qualified instructors and individual shooters build strong firearms handling and marksmanship skills from a solid base of fundamentals to the most advanced sniper instruction. MPRI products are in regular use by U.S. and allied military forces around the globe. Federal agencies, state and local law enforcement organizations and leading security operations use MPRI’S BEAMHIT products to achieve improved live-fire qualification scores and mission readiness.
