Laser transmitters are the heart of the LMTS. Each comply with the eye safety standards set forth in American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-Z-136.1 and North Atlantic Treaty Organization Standardization Agreement (NATO STANG) Number 3606.

Laser transmitters are battery powered and actuated by the fall of the firing pin. They fall into two basic groups: external and internal mounted units. The LT-100C and MP-400B laser transmitters are externally mounted on a transmitter rod that is inserted into the firearm's barrel. The LT-100 is lightweight - just 45 grams - while the robust MP-400B is designed for rough conditions.

The LTX-Z laser transmitter is available in a wide selection of calibers such as the 9mm, 38 special, 357 mag, 38 super, 38 S&W, 40 S&W, 41 mag, 10mm, 45 acp, and 45 colt. It is inserted directly into the barrel of a pistol or revolver and allows the weapon to be holstered. The LTX-Z is fabricated from Delrin® acetal resin to protect the rifling of the barrel.
